$100K bail set for accused child rapist – telegram.com

WORCESTER – Bail was set at $100,000 cash Tuesday for a Grafton Street man charged with sexually assaulting two girls.
Robert B. Perro, 53, of 700 Grafton St., Apt. 1, was arraigned Tuesday afternoon in Central District Court on warrants charging him with three counts of rape of a child with force, three counts of indecent assault and battery on a child, two counts of kidnapping, two counts of reckless endangerment of a child and single counts of witness intimidation, dissemination of matter harmful to minors, posing a child in a state of nudity, indecent exposure and furnishing alcohol to a minor.
The crimes are alleged to have occurred on various dates in 2016 and 2017 in Worcester, according to court records. One of the girls was 10 or 11 years old and the other was 12, court documents state.
The warrants were issued Sept. 4 out of the Worcester court and Mr. Perro was arrested as a fugitive from justice Sept. 7 in Willimantic, Connecticut.
After initially fighting his return to Massachusetts, Mr. Perro waived rendition and was brought to court Tuesday to face arraignment, according to prosecutors.
His wife, Laurie B. Perro, 49, who is alleged to have been a joint venturer with her husband, was arraigned Sept. 4 on related charges and later posted $20,000 cash bail. The charges against Ms. Perro, whose case has been continued to Jan. 29, include rape of a child with force by joint enterprise, indecent assault and battery on a child, kidnapping and indecent exposure.
Assistant District Attorney Alyssa A. Kilmurray requested the $100,000 cash bail that was set on Mr. Perro Tuesday by Judge David B. Locke. The prosecutor said Mr. Perro fled Massachusetts after the warrants were issued against him. She said he had defaults on his criminal record and was facing mandatory minimum state prison sentences on some of the charges against him if convicted.
At Ms. Kilmurray’s request, the judge ordered Mr. Perro to have no contact with his alleged victims should he post bail.
Lawyer Sean Holland, who was appointed to represent Mr. Perro for his arraignment, said he had few defaults on his record and argued that the prosecution’s bail request was excessive.
Mr. Perro is also accused of violating his probation from a 2017 conviction on charges of unarmed robbery and assault and battery. Judge Locke continued the new charges and the probation matter to Jan. 16 and ordered that Mr. Perro remain in custody without bail until then on the alleged violation of probation.
